7:51 p.m. - Wednesday, Nov. 10, 2004 I've been havin' trouble sleepin' again. D told me about a herb tea I should get to help me relax to sleep and, darn, I forgot what the name of it is. I need a memory pill too. I'm sure that there are many herbal sleep remedies available anyhow. I take some sleepin' pills, like Excedrin PM, most nights and most of the time it will work but it makes me sleep really late in the day. Most nights I can't get to sleep until around 1 or 2 am. And of course there are a lot of good TV shows on at that time of night sometimes. Plus there's always something on ON DEMAND. In the evening HB naps on top of my bed and I have to make her move when I get ready to lie down. When I wake her up then she's wide awake and ready to roam and see what she might find to play with. Or what house plant she can eat. Sometimes HB naps nearby on the computer table. Then when she wakes up she wants to walk in front of the monitor and stand. Today I took her into my arms. She hates to be held, believe it or not. I told her that from now on when she walks in front of the monitor and stops I will be picking her up. HB will let me hold her for a few moments then she will begin to squirm to be put down. Maybe if I pick her up enough I'm hopin' to break her from wantin' to stand in front of the monitor. I have found some really nice sites online for things to buy for cats. I have found a window seat that I would like to get for HB and it won't require nails to install it. I have bookmarked the site. That way she can rest on the fur padded seat and look out the window by the computer. Usually HB stands up on her back legs and looks out. She makes me laugh. She gets so excited when I talk to her. I will say, "Do you see any squirrels or birdies out there?" Her head quickly swings back and forth like she's lookin' around and her tail wags crazily. Sometimes she makes sounds like short purrs as she "talks" to me. I just pretend like I understand what she's sayin' and reply back to her. She loves it! And when I talk to her she keeps talking to me. One would have to hear it to understand how cute she is when she does this. Earlier today I watched a great movie on HBO called "Searching for Bobby Fisher" about a little boy who has a gift for playing chess. His name is Joshua Waitzin. This is a real person. I looked it up on the Internet and read more about it there. Joshua did meet and beat Bobby Fisher at chess. What I read today said that Joshua is still in tournaments today. The movie was really good. I enjoyed it a lot. I'd seen parts of this movie before but never from the very beginning. I understand that the movie is based on the book by the same name written by Waitzin's father. The movie was probably boring to a lot of people but it appealled to me. There was, of course, a lot of chess playin' in the movie. More that than anything else. There wasn't a lot of excitement until the end of the movie when Waitzin met up with Bobby Fisher at the tournament that he beat him at. That was interestin' because when he saw that Fisher had lost Waitzin offered Fisher a draw and they would share the win. But Fisher didn't believe that he'd lost until the moves were actually made in the end and so he turned down the offered draw. I've also begun watchin' a program on TV that comes on NBC on Tuesday night. It's called "The Biggest Loser". It's about two teams of overweight people trying to compete to see which team can beat the other in the amount of weight loss. This is an interestin' concept to put on TV. It's amazin' how some of them look after just a couple of weeks. A few of the people have lost between ten to twenty pounds in one week. Then they leveled off the next and lost again this week. Each week the losin' team has to decide which of their members to vote off the contest. The teams are labeled "Blue" and "Red". The Blue Team has a guy from Nashville on it. That made it even more interestin' to me. Mo's a pretty big guy but he's only losin' under 10 pounds each week. Mo has only lost 21 pounds in two weeks. He's not losin' fast like some of the others. They list some of the things the contestants eat each day. I noticed that Mo doesn't drink much water and he actually eats a bit more than the others do. Whereas the big loser for their team, Aaron, drinks sometimes 12-14 bottled waters a day. Aaron eats smaller amounts than Mo and has lost big amounts two weeks with a level off on the second like the rest. He lost actually 36 pounds in two weeks. Wow. But then the Blue Team must have the sense God gave a goose and voted Aaron off this last week. They don't like his attitude even if he does lose big pounds. It will be interestin' to see what happens now. USA on cable shows the re-runs of this show on Monday night.
