7:16 p.m. - Thursday, Oct. 02, 2003 On this new computer I'm beginnin' to get pop-up messages from people I don't even know. Hmmm...I'll have to ask CH how to stop that if I can. I have no idea where they're comin' from. One just popped up saying "Hi, I'm Jen. A mutual friend told me you are a really nice person to talk to..." Then Jen continued on to give me a web site to come to and added that i "...don't even have to have a web cam to chat". Okaaaaay......Well, so much for Jen. Hit that big "X" in the corner upper right. Goodbye, Jen and please don't come again. Thank you. I've received several of these things since last night. And it doesn't say what program they're coming from. Probably Yahoo Instant Messenger maybe. I don't know, but I hope to be able to put a stop to it soon. I never could get the DVDR to record. It would play fine but it just would not record. So the Panasonic has been returned by CH and she picked up what I'd wanted to begin with: a Philips DVDR. I shall try this one out when she can bring it over. Since I'm both computer and electronically challenged, I depend on CH or anyone else who may happen to come along to hook these things up for me. I also have to get the printer checked out by CH. It will print fine but the scanner is givin' me some problems. I've been told that the printer may need to be re-installed from start again. I had to call Comcast yesterday when after tryin' to scan and save to my computer, all at once I couldn't get onto the Internet. The tech had me remove something and then shut down and supposedly let it re-install itself. So I don't know what got messed up. CH has the very same printer and she has no problems with it. *sigh* It turned very chilly last night. I'd turned off the heat earlier in the day yesterday and then I thought: "Well, it probably won't get too cold tonight. It's only the beginnin' of fall." Wrong! It dropped way down here last night and I had to get up in the middle of the freezin' night and turn on the heat. That'll teach me to check and see what the temperature will be before I go to bed from now on. I hope the above doesn't read like I'm angry because I'm not. I know that eventually it will all be straightened out. Just a cycle of bad things happenin' that, hopefully, can be fixed by someone who knows what they're doin', hahaha. There's been nothin' from D lately. He must be very, very busy in college. I've begun readin' the next book in the trilogy of Jason Bourne novels by Robert Ludlum. It's really good. This book has Jason goin' to China to find a killer who may have kidnapped his wife. I've only read a few chapters but it's already buildin' an excitin' scenario. Jason doesn't know just who did kidnap his wife, but the book brings out at the beginnin' that it's done by our friends at the CIA, who need Jason to find this guy who's reapin' havoc in China for them. So they're lettin' him think it was the killer who kidnapped Marie. It's goin' to be really good readin'. And I can't wait for the second movie to come out next year based on the book with Matt Damon in the role of Jason Bourne again. It'll be interestin' to see if this movie will be as different from the novel as the first one was. I can't believe it's almost seven pm. I have worked like crazy today cleanin'. This day is now shot. I think I will make a small tossed salad shortly. I'm kind of hungry now. I saved the interestin' part for last. I need to have some corrective laser surgery done on my eyes. I had noticed that I was beginnin' to have a lot of trouble seein' when I drive at night. So I went to an optometrist and now he's sendin' me to an opthomologist to discuss the surgery. When I drive at night now I can barely see the lines in the road even with glasses (I'm near-sighted). The otometrist told me that glasses won't help this condition. So I'm in for laser surgery as soon as I can have it done. One night last week I was drivin' with a friend in the car with me. When the lines in the road would break, like for a red light or street side entrance, all at once I couldn't tell where the road was and panicked for several seconds. Scared my friend nearly to death. So until I have the lazer surgery, I will not be goin' out at night when I have to do the drivin'. Right now, as it is, I'm an endangerment to myself and to others to drive. I can see better in the daytime, but it's a bit smeary still. I thought I needed new glasses but was informed otherwise. So I now have an appointment to see this new doctor about lazer surgery in about three weeks. I hope I can see for that long. The screen of the computer is even smeary to me and I have begun sitting very near to the television to see it. There's something that needs to be removed. I will let y'all know how it goes. They will do one eye at a time and it will be one day surgery. But I may have trouble seein' the computer followin' the surgery since my eyes will be dialated. So that's that. More on this matter later. Please don't be alarmed. I'm not. I will just be glad when I can see properly again. I am going to ask if the doctor can correct my near-sightedness too while I'm coming there, lol. It would be nice to have 20/20 vision. I've heard this can be done now with the laser.
