12:09 p.m. - Friday, Jan. 16, 2004 Durn! The woman posted yesterday that if I'd give her my address, she'd send me the tapes. She must think I'm as stupid as she is. I wouldn't give her my address for any reason, lol. I haven't replied to her at all this last time. She said that I was really making her nervous and that didn't happen to her often. And I say it's all in her mind. The woman is a fruitcake! She must be on drugs of some kind. I've never experienced anything like this before. I've run into some really odd people before on message boards but never anything like this. I'm over it. I've made up my mind just to read the posts for awhile and not to post there again for a very long time, if ever. I was only lookin' to find some people who enjoyed the QAF show as much as I did since no one around me that I know of watches it. I'd hope to find out more about the other episodes. But finally, I couldn't stand it any longer, so I ordered the first two seasons of QAF from Amazon. I received the first season's episodes yesterday. It's packaged in an attractive box that opens up from two sides like a book and unfolds to display a collection of three dvds on each side. All of this folds back up neatly into the box that is just a little larger than a thick paperback book when it's altogether. I ordered the second season's dvd set this morning. It will arrive in one to two weeks. And the third season, which just ended will be available to purchase at the end of next month, in February. I will get that one as well. Then I will be able to catch up on all the episodes that I missed since I only got to see the last four of this (third) season. You know the show has to be good for me to invest in the entire series like this. Actually, the series is very good despite the nudety and/or sex scenes. The characters are well developed and easy to relate to. If it weren't for the guys kissin' each other, you'd think you were watching a regular straight program. It's really that good. The show leaves you wanting to know more about the characters. There are only about 9 or 10 main characters in the series with various guest actors each week. Only two of the actors on the show are actually gay or at least admit to it. Most of the other actors are...acting. And there's not that much sex going on either. Like I say, except for most of the male characters kissing each other, you'd think you were watching a regular straight series. And I love it! Sharon Gless, who plays the mother of one of the five main gay characters, is so good in the role of Debbie. Debbie is funny along with her son, Michael played by Hal Sparks, who is a comedian himself. It is so cute when Debbie will slap the back of Michael's head lightly and playfully when he's supposed to have done or not done something he should or shouldn't have done. You can tell the slaps are in fun and it's funny to see because both Sharon and Hal are so cute together. Debbie really loves Michael and she's forever keeping the other main characters in line too for the most part. The real main--MAIN--character in the series is Brian Kinney played by Gale Harold, a straight actor. Brian is a gay businessman who is all business. He's attractive and he knows it. He's got a hard attitude and sometimes just plain coldness that nearly hurts to watch. But he's Michael's best friend from childhood and so he's aquainted with the other main characters through Michael. Brian is involved in a lot of casual sex. He doesn't have close friends other than Michael. I wonder if Brian's been through some kind of emotional trauma? And finally there's the youngest gay member of the group and the cutest--Justin Taylor, played so very well by Randy Harrison. Randy is admittedly gay in real life. He's cute as he can be. Justin's only 17 when the show first begins. His mother and father have a very difficult time accepting the fact that their son is gay. Justin is beaten up badly by a gay basher with a baseball bat and suffers brain damage that causes him to lose the use of his right hand and some of his memory in the first part of the series. He's absolutely taken with Brian and even though Brian won't admit it, he cares deeply for Justin. Justin admires Brian so much that he's even adopted some of Brian's ways. In one scene Justin tells his straight friend (a girl who knows Justin is gay) that he "doesn't do boyfriends" when asked if he has a boyfriend. Earlier in the show he had asked another character if Brian had a boyfriend and the response was that Brian doesn't do boyfriends. So already there is a tendancy for Justin to want to become just like Brian. Everyone on the message board, including me, is wonderin' what will happen since Randy won't be in the next season of QAF. He wants to do some other acting someone said. But then someone else said that he's due back in the fifth season which is really odd. From what I could see from the last four eps of this last third season there was no indication that Justin wouldn't be in the series. Wonder if they'll have someone temporarily replace Justin in the fourth? I'm so glad that the series is available on dvd (also vhs if you want that format). This is the first tv series that I've actually spent money on to purchase. There have been others that I've been interested in, but never thought I wanted to spend money to own until now. I hope to be over my total fascination with this show before too much longer, now that I will soon have all the tapes. On the message board I read where one guy said he allowed himself one episode per day from his tapes as his QAF fix between seasons. Right now there are so many episodes that I've not seen yet that I plan to watch as many as I can squeeze into a day, which so far has been the first two episodes. The new season begins in April, so I have to get all caught up by then. It's confusing not knowing what happened in the past eps when a past event is referred to by one of the characters. Right now I have work waiting to be done so I need to get going. Oh, and by the way, I'm still fascinated with Matt Damon. No, I haven't lost that, lol. He's busy making the follow up to Bourne Identity right now and I keep track of him online. Matty is still my favorite actor and I'm glad he has lots of movies to be made. Gotta go!
