Palm Organizer
It's been awhile now since I made an entry. But now I have completed surgery on both eyes and am seeing fantastically! I can read far off like I've not done in a long time. I still have to use reading glasses at the computer and to read books, mail, etc. with, but I can deal with that.

I am very happy with the results of the surgery. I remain amazed at the outcome. It seems so miraculous to me to be able to see so clearly only one day after surgery for cataract removal. Of course a lens has been implanted into each eye so that partly explains the ability I'm sure. But it's still wonderful to see so clearly and to see colors so brightly. Every now and then I can feel the lenses in my eyes but it's bearable. I just have to remind myself not to rub my eyes. I catch myself with my hand to one of my eyes and am shocked at how close I have come at times to rubbing without thinking about it.

Yesterday I took out the manual for the DVD Recorder and figured out (finally) how to actually use it. I have recorded some movies for a friend from my collection of Ryan Merriman vhs tapes and will be mailing them to him very soon. I learned how to finalize the discs so that they can be read on other dvds. Then I tried the discs out on my regular dvd player and voila! They worked! I am so happy!

Last night I ordered a hand-held palm device from Best Buy. That's the same place that I ordered the Eureka bagless vaccuum cleaner from. I am excited for I will receive the device either tomorrow or the next day by UPS. My UPS delivery man knows me by first name since I have so many things delivered here, hahahaha. Today he brought me something with a vhs tape about something I must have requested at some time that I have now forgotten. It's something to do with shopping online. I will watch the tape shortly to find out what it is.

Tomorrow I hope UPS delivers my palm device from BB. I am anxious to get the device. With this I hope to be able to download ebooks to take with me when I go away from home. The last few days at my mother's while she was ill and I was without books to read was nearly unbearable for me. This way I can always have a book handy without having to load my purse down with paperbacks. My purse already has everything but the kitchen sink in it anyhow.

The Palm Tungsten E Handheld Organizer has both the Palm Reader and the Acrobat Reader included in it. Plus it will allow me to do many other things, including writing email if I choose to do so. I don't yet know a lot about it. I don't know exactly how this will be enabled but it's included in the list of product features and details. It's an organizer and will allow me to keep track of lists (like phone numbers) and other things. I'm forever needing to write myself notes to remind me to do things. Now I can make notes on the Palm device with the touch of the stylus. I am very excited about it and am looking forward to getting it. More to come about the Palm device later.

My mother is doing better now. The doctor had an MRI and a cat scan run Friday to determine if she had a small stroke last week. He thinks it may just be that her sugar level ran so low that it effected her ability to walk and to speak just like a stroke does. She has cut back on her eating so much that it's scarey even to me. She's not taking vitamins like she should either and so she's probably low on iron and vitamin B, etc. She forgets to take them. She doesn't feel hungry any longer and nothing tastes "good" to her any more. We tried to get her interested in at least drinking a can of Ensure suppliment but she says she doesn't like the taste. I tried a chocolate one and it tasted like rich chocolate to me and I loved it. We will know the results of the tests sometime within the next couple of days.

I'd been away from home nearly a week. Wow, it's so good to be home again. It's good to sleep in my own bed and to be able to do things I want to do, like reading or just staying up half the night if I choose to do so. Ahhhh....

I am saddened for I discovered on a web site that Mr. Robert Ludlum passed away in 2001, so there will be no new books. But there are still lots of his former books that I have not read yet. Right now I'm reading "The Altman Code" the second book in "The Covert One" series. Mr. Ludlum wrote books in series so if you read one out of order then you may not understand some things mentioned in the later series. But there are lots of other good writers to choose from so I will not ever be without a book of some kind.
