\"Rising Son\"
Whoa! I got really busy over the last few days. I have been busy postin' on various groups that I belong to. Project Green Light on HBO is a series that I watch each Sunday evenin'. It's about over with now. This may be the last week. I thought last week was the last but then they announced another new episode this coming weekend. That's good. I enjoy that program.

I even posted on the PGL message board today. I have shied away from it ever since my first time when I posted on the writers board by mistake because at the time it was the only active board. I got embarrassed when I found out that I was early and the regular discussion boards wouldn't be open until the first show on PGL about a week later. So I never posted again. But the few times I spent readin' some of the comments that were posted made me very hesitant to post. People on that board argue too much with each other and talk obscenely at times. Of course there's a warning up that some of the posts may not be suitable for all readers. So I was warned. I didn't want ugly things posted back to me so I haven't posted except for a couple of times and one of those times was today.

I wanted to express my appreciation to Jeff Balis, one of the producers on PGL. I thought he did a fine job on Sunday night's program. Others on the PGL message board were commendin' Jeff too. So I wasn't alone.

In all it took about a month for me to receive it in the mail, but I now have a Matt Damon movie that is no longer in print. It stars Matt and Brian Dennehy. The made for tv movie is only available on vhs and I had to get it from Amazon Auctions. It's a movie about a poor, working class family with Piper Laurie as Charlie's (Matt) mom. The father, Gus (Brian) ends up bein' out of work when the automobile assembly line he's worked at all his life closes down during the Reagan era. Being an old-fashioned kind of guy, Gus did all he could to keep it from his family in hopes of findin' another job soon. Finally it did come out because Gus had trouble findin' another job because of his age, and it caused a lot of stress for the family. Especially since Charlie had already dropped out of college but hadn't told his father about it yet. Gus was so proud of Charlie takin' pre-med in college to be a doctor. Charlie feared the hard-nosed head-on collision with his dad over this.

There were several very good scenes between Charlie and Gus. In one of the more dramatic scenes between Charlie and his dad, Gus was slappin' Charlie in the face to provoke him to hit him back again. Belle was sittin' on th edge of her seat durin' that one. The slaps looked real too, but I know they weren't. Belle was scared Charlie and Gus would get into a good one and Charlie would end up beaten to a pulp.

Another tense scene was when Charlie dived into a lake at night to try to swim out to his drunk father who was in a boat with a gun plannin' to kill himself. Charlie was wearin' a heavy pull-over sweater and as he swam out he was callin' to his father. Finally the heavy clothing he had on began to pull him beneath the water and Belle was on pins and needles sayin' out loud: "Please don't let Charlie die! No....nooooo...." But in the end, Gus came to his senses and saved Charlie.

The title of the movie is "The Rising Son". I hope to find someone to make a copy of the vhs tape for me so that I won't wear out the original. I want it for my Matt Damon collection. There are a couple of other movies that Matt was in early on that may be impossible to get, but I will have to live with that. I wish I'd known about Matt when he first started out. But I will be happy with my collection such as it is becoming. I have nine of Matt's movies on dvd so far and this vhs makes ten. I also have taped shows on tv with Matt in them. I have interviews with E and Matt's Saturday Night Live appearance as host. And I have Matt's episode of "Will and Grace". I am on cloud nine about that one.

The "Will and Grace" episode is entitled "A Chorus Line". In it Matt plays a straight guy posing as gay so that he can get an all expenses paid trip to Europe with a gay choral group. Matt is hilarious in it. It finally comes out that he is really staight, but the group offer to let him come along anyhow. Matt even sings on the episode. Way cool.

I've also begun postin' "Matt Facts" on two Yahoo groups. My group, Matt and More and Project Green Light Fans. I created Matt and More and little by little my members are growing. I have a lot of information about Matt on M & M. I hope that others lookin' for Matt groups will begin to check my group out. Matt and More has seven members, lol. So far I'm the only one postin'. *sigh* But I have quotes from Matt's movies on it and I have Matt Facts that ask questions to test one's knowledge of Matt Damon and then I give the answer at the bottom of the page. I'm gettin' some good comments about that from the PGL Fans group. I send the same questins to both groups. Not everyone in my M & M group belongs to the PGL group. So I send it to both groups at the present. I have already gained two members this way.

Hopefully I will be able to entice my members, who have been mostly silent until now, to post and get involved in the discussion. It's hard to keep posting when no one responds back, lol.

D is settled into his new home by now. Hopefully he will post to his group soon. I heard from him the other night and he explained how noisy the city is. Where his family lives is quiet and only the insects make noises at night, but in the city he's having to put up with cars goin' and comin' all night long. The other night when we were talkin' more than one ambulance was goin' past his house and stopped only a couple of doors away. Bless his heart. It will take a lot of adjustin' to the changes D is finding there. He will be comin' back to his family home this weekend and he says he's thinkin' of talkin' to Mr. R. about bringin' a gun back with him. I think D has used guns before at his family home so he's familiar with how they work. I hope Mr. R agrees. I'm afraid for D to not have protection.
